A Word for the Warfare

If you’ve been dealing with a heavy amount of spiritual warfare lately, this is for you. If you’re a feeler in the spirit, this might feel especially on point for you as well!

I sat up in bed for a few nights, fully aware of what was happening. My chest tight with anxiety that came on suddenly. I’m not someone who typically has anxiety, so I had full awareness of where this was coming from. The enemy was trying to steal my sleep. But not just my sleep, my mind. My clarity, my peace, my direction. In this season the Lord is blessing me with opportunities and incredible things – and with good things from the Lord, comes an uproar from the enemy. Especially if it’s an extension of Gods goodness and His will here on earth. If you’re experiencing a great deal of push back from the enemy right now, it should raise up a great hope within you that you’re doing the right things. If we’re walking in obedience to what the Lord asks us to do, we should expect for the enemy to raise his fist at us. But our weapons are greater.

Ephesians 6:10:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

These weapons we have keep us in safety, peace and security with Jesus. We can stay standing through it all, because there are no weapons more powerful than the ones our God has given us!

As for sleep, we have security in that too. Psalm 4:8 says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone Lord make me dwell in safety.” It’s a declaration over our spirits and bodies that we have the promise of peaceful sleep in Him. If you’re struggling with sleep, say this out loud. There’s power in declaring the word of God over your life with your voice.

One of my favorite scriptures reminds us of the power we carry within us from the Holy Spirit. We have all authority over the enemy and anything he tries to hurl at us. Luke 10:19, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” We are more than conquerors in Christ, and the authority to overcome dwells within us!

We have the power to redirect our thoughts. To fix our minds on things above. To dig in our heels and overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

A word from the Lord

As I was praying and fighting through warfare myself, the Lord gave me a word. I believe He wants this shared to encourage those of us who are enduring and fighting through things in the body of Christ right now:

“The warfare is strong. It feels like the deep trenches for those that are in me, but it’s temporary. I’ll claw you out, I’ll lift you above it. Remain in me and I in you, I’ll bring you to safety everytime. I’ll rescue my people! Don’t get devoured, put up a fight! There’s more than this, it’s temporary! The tests won’t prevail over you. Stand up. Rise! It’s time for my people to put on the war gear. The time will come when the warfare will be continuous, you’re seeing it already. Make my love known far and wide. Go get those who hide, don’t let them. Pull them out, pull eachother out! The new is here, and it comes with warfare. But it comes with strength, a strength that can’t be broken. The place you fix your eyes is the place you’ll pour out from. Keep your mind fixed on me! You’re safe here with me. Steady and strong. I’ll be home soon, to gather my people and restore the land. Do not be in disarray about what’s happening in the world, what does that do?

Who are you? You’re mine. Nothing can snatch you from my hand. This world is not your permanent home, the renewed world is. Keep your eyes on me. Worship all day, love all day, pray all day. Be with me at all times, look to me.

It’s getting worse, but it has to get worse before it gets better.

Have the courage to speak up. The courage to love. It’s brave in this world, and my people are brave!”

The warfare shouldn't surprise us and we certainly aren't the only ones! 1 Peter 5:9: "Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are."

Psalm 55:18:

“He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.”

Psalm 55:22:

Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall”

He rescues us. He takes care of us. These are promises – all this and more in His word that never fails us. Let’s keep our feet planted in Him. Let’s harness the power and weapons we have in Him! Let’s stay stirred up in the truth that the spirit and word of God gives us!
