God Gives Us Laughter

You can still be holy and laugh…a lot.
You can still be hungry for righteousness and dance + have fun in the faith.
We are all in progress.
It’s not all solemn, deep soul searching ALL the time in our walk with the Lord. There’s no balance in that. Sometimes we weep and laugh all in the same breath because, as humans we’re dynamic and multi-faceted — just how God created us.
His word tells us, our mourning turns into dancing!
Psalm 30:11 “You have turned my mourning into joyful, dancing, you have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.”
He anoints us with the oil of joy!
Hebrews 1:9 “You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”
Cheerfulness is medicine!
Proverbs 17:22
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Even after pain and sorrow, He gives us laughter!
Luke 6:21
“Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”
We can laugh knowing He has our future!
Proverbs 31:25
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
He rejoices, sings and dances over us!
Zephaniah 3:17
"The Lord your God is with you. He is a hero who saves you. He happily rejoices over you, renews you with His love, and celebrates over you with shouts of joy" (Some versions say dance, or celebrate).
Jesus laughed! Jesus danced!
Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there’s a time for everything. So let’s allow space and time for the JOY and fun as well. The dancing, the praise, the laughter, because…Jesus did. So we should too.
We don’t serve an uptight God. But one of grace, that wants our affections and obedience. And in return, there’s a freedom that reveals a well rounded experience of His fullness, His heart and His emotions.
